My Favorite 2010 Craft Trends!!

Has this been a fun year full of craft ideas and tutorials or what?!!!

Throughout the year I’m fortunate to see many DIY craft ideas from amazing crafters around the world. While researching and going through tutorial submissions, I have been overwhelmed and excited with the creative minds that are so willing to share their talents with all of us!!

I thought it would be fun to share my favorite craft trends of 2010 with you {in no particular order}!! I’ve also included a few photos of 2010 tutorials below the trends…just click on the pic to go to the tute! Also, please share your favorite craft trends of 2010 in the comments below…I would love to hear them!!

Here we go…

RUFFLES

Last year we knew that ruffles, ruffles, ruffles, were everywhere and this trend definitely stuck around for 2010…will it stay strong through 2011? I think so.

ROSETTES

Holy cow these were EVERYWHERE this year! People make them out of paper, fabric, ribbon, etc…heck my daughter made one out of her fruit roll up the other day {so kidding}!! Fabulous accessory for a bag, headband, jacket…I’ve also seen fun tutorials for rings and earrings!

I LOVE rosettes and they make everything cuter!!

DOILIES

Not just for grandma anymore! I have to admit I’ve never been a fan of doilies until this year. I can’t get over how dainty this onesie below is and I’m lovin’ that vintage flair that doilies offer!

…and I definitely can’t leave out…

SUBWAY ART

Definitely a big hit this year! The fabulous thing about subway art is that it offers personalization to any décor or gift! Possibilities are endless with the many themes and fonts you can choose from!

Nov/Dec “Create With Me” Gallery!

I have to admit that I didn’t know what I was getting myself into with this month’s “Create With Me”! I really needed new stockings for my family and a tree skirt for the kid’s tree so I thought I’d do both! Um, ya…it was a TON of work!  So November 30th comes around and I’m only half way done and decide to extend it until Dec 20th! Come to find out many of you were having the same issues that I had and were glad for the extension…Pheww!!

The hard work was worth it and I can’t wait to show you everybody’s projects!

Tutorials used for Nov/Dec:

Drop Cloth Tree Skirt by The Sweet Life

I’ll start with my stockings…

I used my favorite Christmas fabric by Basic Grey and for the names I used the white flocked heat transfer from Silhouette!

I’m thrilled to have a matching set and can’t wait to fill them with goodies this weekend!!

Next, the tree skirt for the kid’s tree…

They look forward to decorating it all by themselves every year and now they have a fun tree skirt to go with it!! I’m thinkin’ I’ll have them draw Christmas art with those fabric crayons on the canvas! I wanted a big red ruffle and I used the same fabric to go with my stockings!

She’s the creative gal behind this fun, new blog called Sand & Sisal! She’s a mother of 4 and when she has a “me moment” she loves to create!
“I'm a trained artist in illustration and design. And even though I'm a full time mom, I try to apply my talents in our home, whether it be in decorating, crafting, cooking or baking.
We live in southeast Virginia, just minutes from the gorgeous Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean. Water and sand are my family's playground and where we spend quality time as often as we can.”

What will you find at Sand & Sisal you ask?!
