I’m thrilled to share the Ucreate 2010 awards today!!!
I’ve featured hundreds of my favorite tutorials and had amazing guests throughout the year so you can imagine how difficult it was to narrow down to only TEN!!
If you missed the 2009 awards you can check out the previous winners HERE!
How did I narrow this down you might ask? By taking all of the following into consideration:
- traffic/stats
- links {people sharing it with others because they love it so much!}
- trends
All top ten winners will receive a $15 gift certificate to the fabulous…
They offer a huge selection of personalized vinyl products for your crafting needs and are now offering an affiliate program, too! Check out their fun blog to keep up with their newest products!!
…and the tutorial of the year winner will also receive a $100 gift card to…
Alright. Here we go!
Wait.
Can I just thank all of the awesome crafters for letting me feature their projects on Ucreate this year? I also want to say “thank you” to my creative guests…can you believe we’ve hit 100!? Anyone who has created a tutorial know that lots of work and effort go into taking the pictures, writing the directions, and even recreating the project, etc. etc.! THANK YOU, thank you for motivating us all to create!
OK. Here we go…

#10 - Hanging Fabric Baskets by The Mother Huddle
Destri shows us how to make these adorable fabric baskets to display anywhere
for a stylish way to organize!!
Huge hit among the sewing fans!! She makes this project look simple with her easy to follow tutorial and I love her energetic personality!!
#9 - Zig Zag Pillow by Make It Do
Calli not only showed us how to create this fabulous throw pillow, but she shows us a really cool technique! You have to check out the awesome way she makes zig zags…they’re easier than you think!! I love how you can embellish a quilt or apron with this technique and give it a ric-rac look, too!
#8 - Chic Bathroom Wall by House of Smith’s
Love, love everything about this bathroom makeover, especially this wall technique!!
Shelley shows you how to make this stylish towel rack, the step-by-step for molding, and the vinyl damask that really makes this room pop with color! While you’re there you’ll want to check out her rockin’ beadboard ceiling tutorial!! Amazing.
#7 - Quilted Table Runner by Diary of a Quilter
Has anyone not made Amy’s table runner?! We used this tutorial for August’s Create With Me and it was so much fun! It’s a great project for a beginner and also just as fun for the advanced seamstress! It was funny because I hadn’t seen a friend for ages and we met up at a park so our kids could play and she mentioned she made two of these and that they were also making these runners for a ward activity. Super fun way to spice up a table with your favorite color theme! Total hit this year on Ucreate!!
#6 – Embellished Headbands by Ruffles and Stuff
Want a classy, simple hair accessory for any age?!
Crafters loved the many different ways Disney spiced up plain old headbands using lots of different embellishments from buttons to ribbon, to lace, and more! Click below to see the many variations!!
#5 – Pottery Barn Inspired Mosaic by Remodelaholic
Cassity turns a canvas, Mod Podge, and scrapbook paper squares into this work of art!! So gorgeous and a perfect way to customize décor in any color. This tutorial exploded around the blogosphere!!
#4 - Baby Life Quilt by Vanessa Christenson
This is one of the most adorable quilts I’ve ever seen and obviously tons of you agree!! The fabric choices, the applique, and everything about it is fabulous and unique! How darling is this little model?!
#3 – Farmhouse Doll Bed by Ana White
We all know Ana for her amazing furniture plans and you’ve probably heard of the famous “Farmhouse Bed”. Well, when she decided to replicate it into a mini doll size most of us were crazy about it!! Such a personal gift and a perfect way to put a smile on any little girls face!
#2 - Ruffle Shirt Makeover by Tea Rose Home
I remember when I very first saw this tutorial and fell in love with it. Sachiko is known for her romantic vintage style and her many t-shirt makeovers. This tutorial covers two 2010 trends: ruffles & rosettes. Actually three trends because t-shirt refashions were also huge this year! Simply. Beautiful.
…and the Ucreate 2010 Tutorial of the Year Award goes to…
Bathroom Mirror Makeovers by Show & Tell!!
Many people wanted to copy Sausha and frame their bathroom mirrors after seeing her fabulous makeovers and tutorial {myself included} ! It even became July’s Create With Me project by popular demand as shown in a survey!! The mirrors looked amazing and the updates were truly inspiring!
Sausha was so awesome for showing the three different versions and ways you can customize the molding to your own mirrors!
Make sure to stop by Show & Tell and congratulate her!! While you’re there, check out her laundry room makeover. Trust me.
CONGRATULATIONS to all of you!!
I’ll be contacting each of you soon!
What an amazing year. I’m so excited to see what 2011 brings!!
