Many of you do not know this, but Becky is an incredible “doodler”.
I asked her to share a few pictures of what she’s currently working on with Ashley at Lil Blue Boo…get ready to be inspired!
Here’s Becky…
I am a long time admirer of Ashley at Lil Blue Boo. I love to see her latest sewing projects, read about her parenting joys and struggles, and see her amazing artistic beauty. When I saw she was doing a Journaling Series, I cannot even tell you how thrilled I was to participate.
I had gotten a new sketchbook recently and didn’t really know what to do with it. I have about 5 sketchbooks in progress and didn’t really want to start another one without a singular purpose. When Ashley announced this journaling series I knew this would be the perfect project for my beautiful new sketchbook.
Each day Ashley gives you a prompt like sketch your childhood neighborhood or make a list of simple pleasures. I grab my pen and turn to the next clean white page in my sketchbook and think. I have been amazed at the memories I have been able to conjure up from a simple thing like sketching my first classroom. These prompts have not only helped me start and maintain a meaningful journal, but I have been able to share my kindergarten memories with my 5 year old daughter and reminisce with my siblings about the cars we have owned and the people we grew up with.
Here is a sampling of some of my journal entries for The Lil Journal Project:
Let me point out that you DO NOT have to be an artist to record your story. If you don’t want to sketch, then don’t. Just record the memories evoked by the prompts Ashley presents. You will not regret it! This journal is a treasure to me and we are only on Day 13.
So, go grab a sketchbook, a nice black pen (I use a ZIG writer .05), some colored pencils or crayons and join in.

ReplyDeleteShe is sooooo inspiring!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!
ReplyDeleteI don't create art. It's just not me. I love to edit, to refine, to improve - but not create. However, Becky's doodling on her planners while we were in California got me to doodling on mine and for five short months of my life, I felt like I was encouraging some small part of me to come out of hiding. Just one of many reasons I love her. I mean, she's AWESOME!!!
ReplyDelete:) Jill, your nice. Let that creative drawing side out! Love you!
DeleteWow! Becky!!! that is amazing! What awesome journals!

ReplyDeleteThat is cool. When I was in college I kept a journal like that but haven't done anything like that for years...I have been absent from looking at blogs for awhile and didn't know that journal project even exisited...I totally want to jump in! That sounds really fun. Thank you for sharing. Becky's got some mad doodling skills!

ReplyDeleteOh Becky...I am in LOVE with your journal!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so much cooler than mine!
I love how you illustrated the covers of the children's books!
I started the Lil Journal Project also, but I am a little behind, I need to catch up with all the prompts.
I did write a post about where I've gotten so far though.
I really struggle with being creative without boundaries...It keeps me from doing anything sometimes, but this Journal project with Ashley is helping me a lot!
So glad I have some friends to go along with me on the creative ride!
