You know how we get those home improvement projects that keep getting pushed down the to-do list? Maybe something comes up and you just never get the chance to fix it!

That’s how Michael (my husband) and I feel about our deck.

Let me share a few before shots…

We have a wooden deck that is pretty much falling apart.  We live in an area that gets quite a bit of snow and after every winter it sure takes a beating!

We also get nervous when we entertain in the backyard because the railing is a little wobbly and it just doesn’t feel safe.

Guests {and our kids} have been known to get slivers in their hands when holding on to the railing or walking on to the deck with bare feet.

The stairs are pretty narrow and a few steps are not very sturdy…

…so Michael and I decided that our first project with HomeAdvisor would be a new deck!

The ProFinder Tool 

 

We used the wonderful ProFinder tool, went to “Decks & Porches” section and were matched up with a couple of contractors in our area! They literally called us within one hour and we had appointments set up to receive quotes that week!

HomeAdvisor found us a contractor we trusted right away!!

We were matched with a contractor {Dan at Broderick Construction} that we immediately liked. Come to find out he was the uncle and brother of our close friends!! We couldn’t believe it.
