Did you see part one of my Michaels Holiday Dream Christmas tree? Click HERE to see what my plans are!
Next up? To flock this artificial, pre-lit tree…
I want a “lightly flocked” look on my new tree and I thought it would be fun to share the “how-to” with you! This technique should work on any artificial tree. Here’s the “how-to”…
Grab some glitter and some white paint…
…have some white paint on hand left over from painting your walls? You can use that, too!
There are only TWO steps-super simple!
1. Brush on the white paint lightly by bouncing the paintbrush vertically on the tree. Make sure to avoid painting the lights (you may want to use a smaller brush, too}!
2. Sprinkle on the snowy glitter to give it that “just like snow” look! Oh, and make sure to do small sections at a time so the paint doesn’t dry before you add glitter!
Now you have a gorgeous lightly flocked tree!
**UPDATE** Here is my finished tree! I decided to go with a Peppermint and Snow theme…

How you say.......? G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S?!!!!! Why couldn't you do this on a real tree? That is SOOOO pretty. You're makin me want to go buy an artificial tree JUST to flock it!

Thank you Chelle!
DeleteOh my goodness! You are awesome! I soooooo wanted a flocked tree last year but it was way out of my price range. I already had a new tree and couldn't justify buying another one. I've racked my brain for a year on how do to the fake snow without using spray fake snow. You're the best and you made my day. I can't wait now to do my tree this way. I may even bring my poor, neglected blog back to life to show you my tree.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. Again, you are DA BOMB!
Debbie
You're too kind!
DeleteIt's a great way to spice up an old tree...I love how it turned out!
It's pretty fun, too...took about 2 hours.
wow!!! love this great tip!! would have never even thought of doing anything like this. I have a plain green tree and really wanted one that looked like it had snow on it, thanks to you Now I don't have to buy a new one!!! Pinned
ReplyDeleteYes, don't buy a new one! It's so simple. I accidentally paint a few bulbs on accident but the paint scraped right off!
DeleteHave fun!
I absolutely adore this clever idea. And I'm all for some simple, on the cheap projects that had this kind of result. Looooove it!
ReplyDeleteSimple and inexpensive? My favorite kind of crafts!!
DeleteBeautiful!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Gina!
DeleteI was thrilled with how it turned out and can't wait to show you the decorated Christmas tree!
Love it!!!! I'm gonna try this on some wreaths that look super fake. I think the flocking will bring them alive! Thanks so much for sharing!!!!
ReplyDeleteJanis, I'm going to flock a couple of wreaths, too! So simple and you are welcome!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Vikki
Thank you Vikki!!
DeleteGorgeous!!! You have amazing talent! Thanks for making this fabulous idea available to us! I cannot wait to do mine, but I was wondering if you have any thoughts about storage after the season is over? Are you going to do anything special with it?
ReplyDeleteThanks Kari!
Good question! I plan on storing it the same way as I normally do {it will easily fold up in the box}.
DeleteThanks Cindy!
do you start at the top or bottom
ReplyDeleteI started at the top, but you could do either way!
