Unpaid, no holding back, 100% honest reviews!

Readers Tell UCreate What to Review

We do, too.

We are no longer doing paid reviews.

Don’t get me wrong, we haven’t lied or been dishonest in a previous review on U Create. However, I will say that we haven’t liked certain products and have sent them back to the companies and chose not to review them.

We’ve also felt obligated to review certain products when we would have rather tried a different one from another brand.

There have been times where we’ve found ourselves in a contract and had to keep our mouth quiet at times.

That being said, we want to review some of the latest and greatest products on the market.

U Create will not be paid to review products - wow that’s a risk huh?! Hope we don’t upset too many companies.

There are so many fabulous products out there and some not so fabulous ones. We will tell you exactly what we think of the product and what we dislike!

What kind of products will we review?

We will review anything that has to do with creating crafts, DIY home projects, recipes, parties, etc. We want to review products that our creative readers our interested in.

Where YOU come in…

We want our readers to be able to come to U Create and feel comfortable and trust us!

We want YOU to tell us what to review! Do you know of a company that came out with a brand new product and you aren’t sure that you want to buy it yet? Let us know.

What if you have the product? We will also ask YOU what you think of the product and want YOU to give us your 100% honest feedback that we can share with our readers!

So tell us below…

What would you like us to review?

  1. I would love a review of cutting machines. Like cricut vs silhouette vs ecraft. At least those three comparing them.

  2. I don't have any ideas for a review at this time, but I sincerely thank you for this change. I have gotten to the point where I don't trust ANY blogger reviews after buying products that were gushed about on multiple blogs and turned out to be junk. I got to a point where I just figured every blogger was in it for more cash & free stuff and would basically say anything.

I really appreciate this new approach you are adopting. I look forward to your reviews.

    1. You are so welcome Catherine. This is exactly why we are doing this. We do love the fabulous companies we've worked with but we don't want to have our opinion swayed just because they are giving us a big paycheck to review it. I appreciate you sharing your comment.

  3. I don't know if these fall into any of the categories listed above, but I would love to know if the Resqueeze pouches really work and are worth the money. http://www.resqueeze.com/

    1. I use regular squeezy water bottles, I have seen them at the dollar store. It's not a review of those ones but a cheap way we do the same thing! http://arizona.todaysmama.com/2012/08/diy-on-the-go-applesauce/

  4. What a great perspective on reviews! I'd really like to know the best scissors (fabric and otherwise); or what about the best entry-level sewing machine? Best glue gun? Or what about the best all-purpose acrylic paint (the stuff that says it paints glass, plastic, wood, etc?)

  5. I like the cutting machine reviews mentioned in the first comment. It's so easy to think I need to purchase some crazy package for some cutting machine and product when half the blogs I follow flood my feed with "reviews," but sometimes I wonder if it's really that great or they're just saying all this because they are getting paid to. And I'm so excited to see what reviews you have in store, I'll actually read them instead of automatically skipping over it!!

    1. Oh Hayley I skip over so many reviews and sponsored posts, too! lol
We want to avoid a big ole "spam day" and just give our honest opinions about what's out there. Thanks!

  6. I think this is a great idea and can't wait to see the reviews. I would love a review on a really good paper trimmer as I am looking into purchasing a new one that I may not have to replace blades like the CutterPillar Pro.

    1. Yes, a paper trimmer is a great one to review. THANKS!

  7. I just really want to commend you for this new change. I appreciate your honesty and integrity. As far as reviews, I would love to see you review some different craft suppliers. Besides the big chain stores, it's hard to find reasonable supplies and I figure you two have found some great ones out there! Again, thank you for bowing out of the paid critiques. You are appreciated!

  10. The best sewing kits or even just the best kits for kids projects! I get sick of age restrictions being for small parts, or for crappy quality of materials. Or a sewing kit that shows a really reoccupies way of teaching a kid to sew, but because that's what the instructions show, you can't reach them another way. Oh, and the diy kaleidoscope kits!

    1. Hey do you have a link to sewing kits you'd like us to try? I'm a little confused about what these are. Maybe I'm missing out on something really cool?!

  11. I love this idea! It will be a refreshing change! I do sponsored reviews and I do my best to be as open and honest as possible, but I completely get feeling the pressure like you have to lean one way. This is going to be awesomely HUGE. More people should jump on this!

    1. We are taking a big risk on no longer doing sponsored reviews. We've done them for over 4 years! I think our biggest fear is offending all of those companies we love, but hopefully they can understand our intentions here! Thanks!

  12. I absolutely love that y'all are doing this. This is really a brave step and I cheer you for it! I would like to see the 6-in-1 Stick 'n Stitch Guide that Clover USA has coming out. This thing http://www.clover-usa.com/product/0/9580/_/6-in-1_Stick_%27n_Stitch_Guide I'd love to know if it actually lives up to its own press :) Thank you.

  14. I'd like to know about rotary blade sharpeners. I bought one at almost $30 but it really hasn't worked that well for me; was wondering if I just am not doing something right?

  15. I'm in for an honest crafter's review of die cutters. I have a Cricut and think I would like a Silhouette, but before I waste more money, I would like to know if it's the right idea for me. Thanks for taking this new road for all of us.

  16. Thank you!! I have just started to clean up the blogs I follow for that very reason..it seems some have gotten to where they love everything they touch. I don't mind the paid reviews and know that for many women its a income they could not go without or it has let them stay home with children I just don't understand why they cannot be honest...in a nice way. To say something is not what you would use but may work great for others is not rude or to say it did not work well for what you were using it for does not mean its junk...it may be....but it may not be in other ways of using it. I am looking forward to seeing review I can trust for what they say and to read between the lines. Would love to see reviews of all those craft kits coming out for kids during the holidays. Thanks again for what you are doing and leading the way for others I hope. Maybe the company's will catch on and want honest reviews someday :)

    1. You are right Carol it has been a large source of income for many bloggers. Including us! We've made thousands doing reviews. What we hope to do is keep our income steady in other ways like ad networks, an occassional giveaway, etc. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment!

  17. Can you please do some sort of review about photography classes? I see so many online classes out there, but I don't know which one is the best. I don't want to drop a few hundred dollars to take a class that is really crappy with poor support!

  21. Refreshing. There are several bloggers I've thought about unfollowing because I felt like they were just "whoring" themselves out to get free stuff and then convincing us to buy it too. Excited to see the real reviews!

  23. Love that you're doing this!!

There is a new digital cutter out there and I haven't seen any of my fave blogs review it. I would love to see how this compares to the popular ones (Silhouette, etc.). It's the Brother ScanNCut CM100DM. It looks really amazing with a built-in scanner. Something that the current trendy ones don't have.

  24. Thanks. I have stop reading any blogs that do paid reviews. I do realize reviews for a product is necessary and informative but I don't like blog posts that are a commercial.
One thing I was interested in buying but really sure if it was necessary or worth it is a hot glue accessory kit I saw. I do remember it had a silicone finger tip that would prevent burning. I'm not sure where I saw it.

  25. I am so glad you guys have taken this point of view. I have blogs that I stopped reading because it got boring to just read glowing reviews over and over. I would love to hear honest reviews about subscription boxes, recipes, and new paint products.

  26. Maybe I'm alone in my thoughts, but can you just cut out product reviews in total? I skip past any product review I see on craft blogs. Really I just want to see finished craft products :)

  27. I am interested in squeezie pouches -- the ones you can refill with home made goodness. I'm usually not interested in product reviews because I knew you couldn't do them unbiased, until now. Unpaid reviews would be as great as the ones I use on Amazon.

  28. I'm in the process of buying an embroidery machine. I am tossing between the Brother PE 770 and the Singer Futura XL400. Please let me know your thoughts on this. The Brother has better reviews but from the reviews I've read on Singer sounds like a lot of the bad reviews might be user errors not using the correct thread and needles for the right fabric...

  29. Mine might be silly but I'd love for you to review Jamberry nail wraps.....I have seen very mixed reviews on them. A friend is selling them and I'm afraid to dive in knowing that some people had trouble applying them!
