Today I’m sharing some of my “go-to” cleaning tricks that make cleaning simple!
My cleaning motto is “Cleaning can be fun if it doesn’t take FOREVER”. When using the right tools and supplies (you probably have on hand) your house can be sparkly clean in no time!
I also created this Stain Removal Printable do put next to my washer and wanted to share that with all of you, too!

MICROWAVE
Why is it that microwaves can take so much elbow grease to clean? I don’t know if it’s the special metal in them or the weird angles to clean them (I have to reach high and get a step stool), but they can be a pain to clean. Here’s the trick! If you take a microwave bowl and put in equal parts vinegar and water – I used about 1 cup each – microwave on high for 5 minutes and all of that gunk wipes right off. Saves so much time!
KITCHEN & BATHROOM CABINETS
This next trick makes cleaning those corners on your kitchen and bathroom cabinets a cinch. In a small plastic bowl put 1/2 cup of vegetable oil and 1 cup of baking soda. Mix together. Use this and a toothbrush to scrub those yucky, hard-to-clean corners! Wipe clean with a rag.
TOILETS
Out of every single thing I clean in my home, the toilets scare me the most. Yes, I have a fear of toilets. Well, a fear of touching any germs on them. I said GOODBYE to my icky toilet brush years ago and my “go-to” item for cleaning toilets for the past couple of years is always the Clorox Toilet Wand. I don’t have to touch a thing – just click, swish, and toss in the trash!
This wand cleans like no other and I love that it has a Clorox toilet bowl cleaner inside the cleaning head.
Just click a disposable toilet cleaning head in place, swish the toilet bowl and toss the head into the trash bin when you’re done. How easy is that?! It can be found in the mop & broom aisle at Walmart. All items were purchased at WalmartWalmart has everything you need to tackle spring cleaning
FAUCETS
Dryer sheets are one of my favorite cleaning supplies. I use them in my “basketball-playin’ teenage son’s” sneakers (yes, these actually work!) and I love to shine up my kitchen and bathroom faucets with them, too! Simply use them dry and polish.
LAMP SHADES
I had a neighbor tell me that she does this and last year I gave it a try. Use a sticky lint roller to clean your lampshades. It picks up all the dust and other things like spider webs in one swipe!
VENTS
All you need for this next spring cleaning trick is a microfiber cloth and a butter knife. Place cloth over knife and clean the vents side-to-side. The kids love helping with this chore! If you have more than dust, grab a toothbrush dipped in hot water to scrub off.
I hope these tricks help with your spring cleaning routine!! Also, don’t forget to print out the Stain Remover Chart here! Run it through a laminator and hang next to your washer for easy access!
