This is a sponsored post for The Home Depot Foundation. All words and opinions are my own.
This week I had the opportunity to parter up with The Home Depot Foundation’s Celebration of Service. On September 9, 2014, Team Depot volunteers worked in 10 cities across the country to improve more than 500 veteran homes in one day! Incredible right?
I had the honor to attend the Los Angeles, CA event.
I arrived to see volunteers and orange everywhere! I grabbed my orange Home Depot t-shirt and joined the crowd. Little did I know it would be one of the best experiences in my blogging career.
The launch for this event included:
- Landscaping
- Building Frames
- Building Foundations
THE VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES
Veronica Lemus (pictured above) was one of the veterans I had the opportunity to meet and her story really tugged at my heart. Veronica is a mother of 7 and has served our country in the US Air Force for over 12 years.
These families were so full of gratitude and kindness (some to the point of tears) for the services being provided and the opportunity to have a better quality of life.
THE VOLUNTEERS
Do you want to know what brought me to tears (happy tears) though? The volunteers.
They worked their tails off in 103 degree weather digging, building, nailing, planting, etc…while having smiles on their faces!
It truly was an honor to be a part of this Celebration of Service!
The Home Depot Foundation partnered with bloggers such as me for their Celebration of Service program. As part of this program, I received compensation for my time. They did not tell me what to say in these posts. The Home Depot Foundation believes that consumers and bloggers are free to form their own opinions and share them in their own words.
