Hi everyone! This is Sam from the Pretty Life Girls, and today I have the funnest craft for you! I have been wanting a little Valentine’s decoration for my house, and this hand-embroidered wall hanging turned out perfectly. Now, before we get into this, you should know that I have never embroidered anything in my life. So you don’t need any expertise to do something like this. It was simple (and can I say therapeutic?), and if I can do it, anyone can. So here’s how I did it.
What you need:
Fabric (linen or canvas or some kind works great)
Embroidery hoop
Embroidery floss
Wooden dowels
Bakers twine/cotton
What to do:
Step 1: Draw or trace a picture with pencil onto your fabric.
Step 2: Embroider the picture. Like I said, this was my first time. I used this awesome website to help me learn how to do different stitches.
Step 3: Fold over the top and bottom edges of the fabric and stitch across, leaving enough room for the dowels.
Step 4: Slide the dowels into the top and bottom openings.
Step 5: Tie the baker’s cotton on each side of the top dowel.
Step 6: Hang on the wall.
I loved making this project. And, since the dowels slide in and out, you could make other embroideries, and switch them for any season or holiday!
Now, be sure to come and visit my sister and me as we blog about style, food, and the things we love over at The Pretty Life Girls. You can also find us on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter!
Happy Valentine’s Day to you!

Wow! So beautiful! Where did you find the embroidery pattern you traced?
Sam says
Hi! Thank you! I actually just found a couple pictures on Pinterest and combined them to make this picture, which I then traced on the fabric. You can embroidery ANYTHING.
