I’m so happy that my first holiday project of the season is for the Handmade Ornament Series here on U Create. Of course, I couldn’t resist using a little glitter to start off my holiday crafting season.
For my handmade ornament, I used items that I had in my crafting stash. The inspiration for these ornaments came from the necklace pendant trays. They’re oversized – too large for me to wear as a necklace but perfect for a mini ornament.
SUPPLIES:
jewelry pendant trays
magazine pictures or pictures from old Christmas cards
Mod Podge
paint brush
glitter
Dimensional Magic.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Start by choosing your pictures. Mine are from a magazine that featured some holiday images. Cut out a piece that will fit in your pendant tray.
Use Mod Podge or other decoupage medium to adhere the image in the pendant tray. Once your image is dry, use a very tiny paint brush to “paint” Mod Podge in the areas you want to glitter. For multiple colors wait for each color of glitter to dry before applying the next color.
Shake off any excess glitter and make sure your piece is thoroughly dry. Use Mod Podge Dimensional Magic to form a clear heavy coat on top of your glittered image. Allow to dry overnight and resist the temptation to touch it to see if it’s dry. The Dimensional Magic goes on slightly murky and will be crystal clear when dry.
