I wrote this post as part of a paid campaign with Yahoo! and Blueprint Social. The opinions in this post are my own.
I have had some much fun DIYing some fun t-shirts with my 6-year-old daughter lately. So when I was asked to make a project inspired by Yahoo! Makers, I knew my little one and I would have fun making another t-shirt project. We choose this DIY Shredded Heart Shirt as inspiration! We had everything we needed at home…except the t-shirt. We grabbed two $3 shirts and couldn’t wait to get painting.
Supply List:
-white cotton t-shirt
-pencil (to draw the heart)
-pink acrylic/fabric paint and stippling brush
-mini box cutter (Dollar store, baby!)
-ruler
-ribbon (optional)
We followed the tutorial at Yahoo! Makers pretty closely, then we added our own little twist: lots of RIBBON!
We added tiny ribbon knots to one of the shirts. It turned out super cute and added a little different look. HINT: To keep the ends of the ribbon from fraying, paint the ends with clear nailpolish or Fray Check.
These girls thought they looked pretty sassy with ripped shirts…check out that hand-on-the-hip action. They may also come naturally because they are kids of a photographer.

Love the t-shirt! Did you put fabric under the heart? How did you attach? Thanks!
