I have now made 18 princess dresses from Simplicity pattern #2377. It’s just a wonderfully simple peasant dress pattern and is easy to modify. Why are these the perfect princess dresses? They are inexpensive and are more like play dresses and less like prom dresses. For part 3 of our Princess Peasant Dress tutorial I created 4 princess dresses: Jasmine, Moana, Mulan, and Pocahontas. I’ll post one every day this week…just in time for Halloween. 🙂
Here’s how I made the Jasmine princess dress:

JASMINE SUPPLIES:
- 1 yard of sheer aqua fabric for sleeves, skirt top, and top of bodice
- Big turquoise gem
INSTRUCTIONS:
When cutting the pattern pieces for the skirt section, also cut one out of the overlay.
Hem the edges of the overlay and attach it to the skirt in the gathering process, then attach the whole thing to the bodice.

For the bodice, attach a 5-inch strip of the overlay (hem bottom part) to the top of the front bodice piece. Attach a gem in the middle. (see pictures)

The sleeves are also made with the overlay fabric.
Put it all together according to pattern instructions and you have the perfect Jasmine play dress.
