Favorite Homemade Play Dough Recipe

The Kids' Very Favorite Homemade Play Dough RecipeMy children love to be creative with play dough and they are always asking me to make this homemade Kool-Aid version we’ve been making for years!

It only has 5 simple ingredients so anybody can make it. The kids can help, too – just make sure the adult handles the boiling water and supervises. Wait until you make this and see how vibrant the colors are by using the Kool-Aid powder…it smells good, too!!

INGREDIENTS:
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup salt
2 cups water
3 Tablespoons vegetable oil
2 pkgs of Kool Aid
DIRECTIONS:

1. Mix the flour, salt, and Kool Aid together in a bowl.

2. Boil the water on stovetop or microwave. (Make sure the water is boiling. I find the hotter the water the better the dough turns out!)

3.  Add the dry mixture above and oil into the water and mix thoroughly.

4. Let cool (it will be sticky until it cools)

Now it’s time to play!

Did you know that playdough is great for developing hand-eye coordination, writing, and drawing skills! There are so many things the kid’s come up with when it comes to play dough playtime. You can also search “free play dough mat printables” on the internet for hours of fun!

My kids like to use every day household items like cookie cutters, a rolling pin, butter knives, tea sets from the play room, and anything else they can get their little hands on.

Kool-Aid play dough makes a great party favor – just place in a small container with ribbon, or a small baggie for the guests to take home after the party!
