DIY Tote Bag Tutorial: Personalized, Practical, and Perfect for Book Lovers

Hello creative friends! This is one of my favorite crafts in this month’s “Books & Crafts” series on U Create. It’s fun, practical, and perfect for the book lovers out there! Whether you’re heading to the library, the beach or just cozying up with your favorite books at home, this DIY tote bag is for you. It’s customizable and the creative possibilities are endless.

Why You’ll Love This Tote Bag

We all know the struggle of juggling books, notes, and all those little things that add up when you’re out and about. This is ideal for carrying your current reads, library books that need returning, or an easy grab-n-go to have your books on your next adventure.

These trendy totes are so much fun to personalize with your favorite saying, name of a friend (as a unique gift), etc.!

Supplies:

  • Tote bag (tons of colors available here)
  • Fuzzy adhesive letter stickers
  • Optional: thread and needle

Instructions:

  1. Start by planning your design! You could include a small phrase, personalize with a name, title of a book, or a small quote!
  2. Once you’re happy with your design. Peel off the back and stick on the tote!
  3. For those who want a more permanent design, sew the letters on by hand with your needle and thread. You could stitch around the edges or a simple stitch down the middle of each letter to secure.

Craft Night!

Grab your friends or book club pals and create these tote bags in one night. This craft is super easy and you see results instantly — each tote will be unique and it’s fun to see each other’s creations!

I’m always borrowing books from my library and use mine to keep them all together! These totes are also fun conversation starters with other book lovers you might meet!

Gather your supplies, get crafting, and remember to share your finished projects with @ucreateblog on social media!
