Thank you so much for sharing your research. Have you made all of these masks? At the start of the pandemic I found some fabric in my craft room and made the simple double layer pleated masks. No elastic available so I used the pony tail ties (had them when I crocheted cute scrunchies). They have served there purpose and held up well. But, our issue is glasses. I want to make some that work with glasses and not steam them up. Do you have a suggestion as to which style would work the best?
    Thanks again.

Hi Stefanie, Great question. I wear glasses on the weekends to give my eyes a break from my contacts and the masks I’ve used fog up my glasses so much. My mom made some masks and put the little wire in the top over the nose (pipe cleaners work, too) and this helps stop the fog. There is a pattern above – the 3D mask by See Kate Sew and she also shares how to put in the wire insert. Hope this helps!

I’ve made nearly 1,000 masks in my own version of the pleated style. After running out of elastic I found a softer, easy solution. I use my rotary cutter and make 3/4″ strips of 2 way stretch Lycra fabric. Must but cut on the straight, not bias. Then i pull on the strips really hard and the fabric curls. I have seen a similar technique with T-shirt fabric but Lycra is much more soft and stretchy.
