Poinsettia Clip Tutorial

poinsettia clip

Hi everyone! I am Elizabeth, one half of the duo of sisters-in-law who blog at Simple Simon and Company. We are two girls who married brothers and ended up with the exact same name. Aside from sharing a name we also have the same number of children, are both the same age and both have a love of sewing. Convenient, huh? Over at Simple Simon and Company, we blog about simple sewing tutorials, crafts we love and the art of homemaking.
Today we have a simple and easy gift or craft that you can make in an afternoon and you probably have all of the supplies at home to make them!
Do you know those loose silk poinsettias that sometimes hang out in the bottom of the Christmas bins? You know the ones that fell off from the year before? Well, now you can use those to craft with! Here’s how I used some leftover poinsettia flowers to make this easy DIY Poinsettia Hair Clip…

poinsettia clip step 1
Materials: leftover green felt, yellow beads, silk poinsettia flower, hair clip, hot glue gun and glue, needle and thread

poinsettia clip step 2

Using a needle and thread hand stitch the yellow seed beads to the poinsettia flowers.

poinsettia clip step 3

Cut out some leaf shapes from the green felt and embellish as you’d like. (I used green embroidery floss but it’s not necessary.) Hot glue the poinsettia to the leaves and the clip to the back and you are done!

I am using this clip with my daughter’s Christmas outfit that I am making. I am using a couple of different vintage patterns and it’s turning out really cute. We are going for a black, white and red color scheme 😉
Thanks U CREATE for having us here today! Be sure to come and see us sometime at Simple Simon and Company!
