I’m collaborating with Sherwin-Williams and BlogHer to bring you my next home improvement project!
Let me introduce you to what my kids call “The Creepy Bathroom”…
![]()
…this bathroom is located in our basement and you will notice a hole in the ceiling due to a leaky pipe. Movie star light bulbs above the outdated cabinet – yes, half of the bulbs are out – we rarely use this bathroom!
Here’s another angle of the bathroom, and what I plan to do for the remodel…
![]()
…oh ya, that’s right! When we moved in there was a red light, and when you turn it on, the whole room turns a creepy red color!
Sherwin-Williams to the rescue!
I used their ColorSnap® app and found the perfect color to brighten up my bathroom! Here is how simple it is to use:
![]()
1. Download the Android or iPhone app by Sherwin-Williams called ColorSnap.
2. You can explore colors if you don’t have a photo on hand that you want to match. If you have a photo, click Use Saved Photos, click and you’ll find many colors to explore in your theme!
3. Click on the color and it will show you the color name, the color number, and if it is exterior or interior.
4. Need to find the nearest Sherwin-Williams? Type in your zip code, and it’s right there.
Does it get easier than this?!
The wall color I decided to go with is called Rainwashed. It’s a light blue/green color, and it is gorgeous!
When I’m done with this bathroom, hopefully it will look completely different and my kids will think of it as “The Happy Bathroom.”
Stay tuned…

I just use the colors that I think fit our home best. I’m not that great at picking, but I do like our home. Our bathroom needs a makeover too, but not quite the same as yours… 😉
Haha! Our basement bathroom needed so much help! I can’t wait to show you the after pics later this month!
I look on Pinterest (big surprise, right?!), favorite home magazines, and outside for color ideas.
Yes, Pinterest HUGE inspiration!
I generally go with a base color that I think we’ll like and will fit the mood of the room. After that, we usually go with a shade of white that will match it for trim and such. Very un-scientific. 🙂
I tape multiple paint swatches in the room and let them grow on me.
I used to just pick colors I love and kind of go for it, but now it’s mostly just drooling on pintrest to see what I really like in a room.
I pinterest the heck out of it, then get way too many samples, then I mull it over in my mind…and maybe soon I’ll actually pick one and start painting! But a Sherwin Williams gift card would certainly help. 😉
I like to use “tried and true” professional decorator colors. I do a google search for that phrase, or visit the blogs of people I admire. Houzz is helpful, and pinterest too.
I just came home with paint chips to see what I would like for our bathroom. We are getting a Bathfitter tub installed on Monday and I told my hubs he has to paint!!!
I find color inspiration from nature. I like greens, blues and browns so I usually go for these types of shades.

I get inspiration from my friends homes, online and from things I already have and am going to use in that room.
I stand in front of all the color samples and just start pulling the colors that I like. I usually talk myself out of the super bold ones and finally decided on a nice color in a mellow shade.
It’s funny though that I can pull color samples from four different stores and end up with basically the same color without trying. That’s when I know I have a winner!
I get inspiration from fabrics, nature, pinterest, magazines, and model homes. I love to walk model homes to see how they decorate and paint.
