If you’re looking for a simple Valentine craft that is also a sweet, thoughtful, gift, these folded paper heart treat pockets are for you.
They look adorable, but they’re surprisingly easy to make. With just a square of paper and a few folds, you can create a heart-shaped pocket that holds treats, mini cookies, conversation hearts, or folded love notes.

No special tools. No measuring. Just paper, folding, and a little creativity.
Supplies
- Square cardstock (6×6 or 8×8 inches works beautifully)
- Scissors
- Ribbon or twine (optional)
- Hole punch (optional)
- Treats or small items to fill
Fun filling ideas:
- Conversation hearts
- Mini chocolate candies
- Folded love notes
- Mini cookies
- Cozy socks
- Lip balm
Step 1: Start With a Square

Begin with a square piece of cardstock. If you’re using regular printer paper, trim it into a square first.
Larger squares create larger pockets. Smaller squares make mini versions that are perfect for party favors.
Step 2: Fold in Half

Fold your square in half to form a rectangle. Crease firmly, then unfold.
That center crease will guide your next folds.
Step 3: Fold Bottom Corners to the Center
Bring both bottom corners inward toward the center crease so they meet in the middle.
It should start to look like the bottom of an envelope.
Press down on your folds so they stay crisp.

Step 4: Fold Up the Bottom Section
Fold the bottom triangular section upward to create the base of your pocket.
If needed, secure the sides with a tiny piece of double-sided tape or glue.
At this point, it should resemble a small envelope.
Step 5: Shape the Heart
Use scissors to gently round the top edges into curves.
Trim small angled corners from the top flaps so when they fold together, the shape forms a heart.
Take your time here. Small trims make a big difference.

Step 6: Fill and Tie
Add your treats, notes, or small gifts inside.
Then:
- Wrap ribbon or twine around the center
- Tie into a simple bow
- Add a small tag if desired
And just like that, you have a sweet little handmade Valentine gift!
