Did you know you can turn acrylic paint into fabric paint?
Maybe you’d like to stencil onto a throw pillow and need it permanent yet washable…or maybe you found a thrift store wallet and want to give it a new look with paint.
You can find what’s called “Fabric Medium“ Paint at most craft stores or online.
DIRECTIONS
Simply mix the fabric medium with your favorite color acrylic paint and voila you have fabric paint!
You can play around with how much you want to mix. I’ve used two parts acrylic paint to 1 part craft medium.
This makes your finished project soft, washable and permanent. Keeps the colors bright, and doesn’t chip or peel as if you were using regular acrylic paint. Give it a try!
Have you tried this technique and have some tips to share? Please comment below.

I have tried doing this already a couple years back, it works well..
Problem is finding it. Used to be everyone carried the “genres” (fabric, sparkle, crackle, etc )of add ons to the paints. Now it’s almost impossible to find them.
I purchase mine on Amazon. 🙂
They have it at Michaels. ?
Great tip! I will be using this soon!
I love this idea. My living room is a mix and match from gently used places. And every piece I own is a hue of blue from aqua to navy. Wanting to paint the wing back chair in tan or maybe a light yellow. How do you apply this though? Does one have to spray it on, roll it on? And would this hold up to at least 2 yrs, even with a medium sized dog. This chair is the only chair I let our girl get on and it still needs to hold up to that. Any tips would be helpful. Thank you
Thank you!!!
Thank you. Thank you. Just know this is what I used to do, but, it being so long ago, I forgot how. 52 years is a long time between. I used to paint beautiful flowing panels and include them into my dress designs. Customers love them. Now I’m just an ol duck wanting to make my own cloths.
I have used this for years. now I have used it to paint quilt panels
