You. Can. Do. This!

Sewing is one of my very favorite creative outlets. Once you get the hang of it, you won’t be able to stop. There are endless projects you can create with a sewing machine. I even sew on paper!

To get started…go download this…

  • top 5 cutting tools for sewing
  • cheat sheets
  • how to rip out a seam

…and so much more!!!

It doesn’t stop there.

Sew4Home has many tips and techniques you can learn beyond the sewing guide like…

Ooh, thanks Kari! And I was just thinking to myself how I NEEEED someone to come over and show me how to even thread my machine.

    Serious. It’s that bad.

I got my first real sewing machine this year. I got the Brother sq9050. I am currently working on my first small tote bag. I can’t wait till I get it finished. I have recently figured out that I have a fabric and button addiction. I would really like to combine the 2 into a really pretty quilt, I just haven’t figured out what it should look like. My favorite quilts are the storybook patchwork type quilts. Thanks for this great post.

Speaking of sewing, do you have any good links for help for sergers? I bought one close to a year ago because I had progressed in my sewing skills, but I am so intimidated by the serger. I’ve not used it yet. 🙁

Ah! I am beyond excited about your learning to sew series! I just got a new sewing machine for Christmas that I’ve been begging for since the summer. My first project is making capes for my son’s 4th birthday superhero party.

I tried teaching my self to crochet. I may have to start this up again too.

Just what I need! The first thing I’d like to sew is a slipcover for my thrift market ottoman. Or patterned draps for the living room.

Thanks for the info! I really want to learn to sew! I would love to learn to make some of my own clothes. In high school I took Home Ec and I made a dress and a pair of sweat pants. Both super easy, but I had lots of help with the pattern! That was over 10 years ago and I have no clue how to begin again!

Thanks! I can sew a little, but don’t know much about it. I have some flannel fabric that I want to make a rag quilt or something special with for my daughter.
