Owl Christmas Ornament Tutorial

Hello! My name is Cindy and I blog at Skip to my Lou. I love making home made gifts and celebrating holidays! Crafting with kids is another one of my favorite things to do. These owl Christmas ornaments are fun and easy to make with supplies you probably have around the house! In no time at all you can have a parliament of owls to decorate your tree —–and your kids will be so proud!

SUPPLIES:

  • 1 toilet paper roll
  • 6-7 white baking cups
  • glue stick
  • scissors
  • owl eye download printed in color on white cardstock

How to make an owl ornament with Skip to my Lou

INSTRUCTIONS:

Cut about an inch off one end of the toilet paper roll.

Fold the sides of the toilet paper roll to the middle on one end. This makes the ears.

Fold two baking cups in half. Next fold four to five baking cups in half and cut out only the center to make a ring.

Color the baking cups with crayons and markers. Make them colorful so they stand out on your tree, or you might choose to leave them snowy white. Glue the rings onto the toilet paper roll with glue stick. The ring is bigger that the toilet paper roll so it can be overlapped in the back, or make a slit and overlap the ends. Continue gluing the rings up the toilet paper roll.

Glue on the eyes.

Color the wings. One side of each wing can be slightly bent if you like. We found later it wasn’t really necessary. How to make an owl ornament with Skip to my Lou

Glue the wings to the back of the toilet paper roll.

Hot glue a loop of string to the top for a hanger or hook a metal wire ornament hanger through the cardboard at the top.

TaDah! A darling owl ornament!
