Dr. Suess Library Tote
First, I purchased all of my bags at Hobby Lobby using my coupon (that made them a little over $1 a tote)!
1. Use this font to make a stencil or cut out a Dr. Suess saying using your Silhouette heat transfer & iron it.
2. Cut out small rectangles using red and white felt..glue the hat to the tote with glue gun.
3. If you want, you can add stitching around the hat…I used black DMC floss.
Card Holder
1. plastic card holder (I just cut my son’s extra Pokemon card holder page)
2. Punch a hole in the top on one side.
3. Cut a loop in the chain and attach card pocket to bag.
I made two other bags using this same technique…

Kari! This is so fun to see you in front of the camera! You are too cute. That is a huge fear of mine as well, in front of a camera. I kind of have no desire, ha ha! These are the CUTEST totes for the library! I really love them. I’ve been wanting to make my kids some library totes for a long time but I’m glad I waited now! Thanks for the adorable ideas!
Christie thank you so much! So glad I’m not the only one with this fear..lol! Thanks so much for stopping by!!
You did just great! Love your decorated tote bags, great ideas there.
…. and you’re beautiful on camera too!
I’m so glad you like the tote bags! I had a great time making these…and thanks for your sweet compliments!
Simple, yet beautiful library bags. The card holder is a great idea. Of course I love the Dr. Seuss one most. I’d love to feature it tomorrow for Dr. Seuss day (please let me know if you’d rather I not). I’m going to be talking about home libraries so this is perfect. http://www.obSEUSSed.com
Absolutely! I bet your awesome blog is going crazy right now! Thanks!
So cute! We just featured you on our Facebook Page!
thank you!
Best Dr. Seuss quote-
“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those that mind do not matter, and those that matter do not mind.”
Oooo…I love that one, too!!
Do you have a download of the Big Books template? I love, love, love these! 🙂 Thank you!
I actually don’t have a download for this, I just used the Silhouette houndstooth image in their online shop and for the life of me I can’t remember the font. Sorry!!
Kari, you’re a natural! I LOVE the bags, and you really are fabulous on camera, even if you don’t agree :).
Thank you, thank you Abby! You’re always so sweet!
I really need to make library totes for my boys. I always have a huge stack of books to carry and then a 2 year old I’m trying to keep ahold of. the totes would help a lot.

I never go to the library without a tote anymore…it really helps when you don’t have to do the balancing act with the books!
This was my favorite episode on My Craft Channel. You did a great job. Wendy and Angie’s show is also my favorite show! Love. Love. Love the library totes.
Kim, you really know how to put a smile on a girls face….what a compliment and thank you for stopping by!
This is absolutely brilliant. My favorite is the Dr. Seuss. Really well done. I am so inspired, I am making one for a gift. Finally had a chance to stop by and see your tutorial after pinning a few days ago!
Thanks Amy! The Dr. Suess is my favorite, too….I had so much fun making that felt red/white hat!
I love them! Last week I went to the library with a large stack of books to return and I thought to myself I need a book tote! Now I need a super-cute Dr. Suess book tote! One more thing on my “to-do” list! 🙂
Yes! That’s the worst carrying a huge stack of books…and dropping them if you’re like me!!
Have fun creating!
Just seen this on Pinterest, love the Dr Suess one, just fab!
I LOVE these! So darn cute and creative!
I LOVE these! Especially the Dr. Suess quote–really sums up reading, doesn’t it? These are on my to-sew list. 🙂
I saw this post when you first put it up and now as a Librarian getting ready for the the Children’s Summer reading program we are going to paint bags with their name and something like this for each kid! Thanks for such good ideas!
